How to Add an Email Signature in the Windows 8 Mail App — Historical Guide

Historical support note: This article documents the original Windows 8 Mail app. Windows 8 reached end of support on January 12, 2016, and this interface is not the current Outlook experience.

The original Windows 8 Mail app let you set a signature separately for each configured account. The steps below describe the 2012 Windows 8 interface.

Add a signature

1. Open the Mail app.
2. Press Windows key + I to open the Settings charm for Mail.
3. Select Accounts.
4. Choose the account you want to edit.
5. Scroll to the signature setting.
6. Turn the signature option on if necessary, then enter the text you want appended to outgoing messages.

If more than one account is configured, repeat the process for each account that needs its own signature.

The Windows 8 Mail app and its Charms-based settings model belong to an unsupported version of Windows. Do not use these steps as instructions for Outlook for Windows or current Microsoft 365 apps.
